David A Posted November 25, 2006 Share Posted November 25, 2006 The attenuaters[volume controls] on any amp do not indicate the output power.Their function is to match the output level of the mixer or input device to the amplifier.To get the optimal performance run the mixer at '0' output then increase the amplifier gain till you have the maximum level you need.This will give you the best signal to noise ratio.The most common fault I hit every day is people running amps at full then having to drive their mixers at a low level which creates a noisy system.
