dave singleton
This is yet another question about flying, but this time just me being curious. Whats used actually on the person to fly people? Is the clothing specially designed and has some form of point built into it? Or do they make them wear a harness underneith clothing? And if so, how do they make it un-noticable?

GridGirl
Whats used actually on the person to fly people? Is the clothing specially designed and has some form of point built into it? Or do they make them wear a harness underneith clothing? And if so, how do they make it un-noticable? Harnesses, usually. Whenever we've flown people the costume designer has known about it early on and has worked with the harness to make it as invisible as possible. Obviously it's different with different harnesses, but the waist harnesses that we've had from Foys have a point on each hip, so there are slots in the costume for that, so that only the points stick out. The full-body harnesses have a dorsal point (centre of the back, between the shoulderblades), so if the costume has a zip in the back then we've had the wardrobe department put in velcro instead of a zip so that you can close it around the wire. In cases where the person is flying on something, rather than having the wire clipped to them, we've had waist belts for a safety, and also wrist loops - a loop with a toggle on it, you put your hand through the loop and slide the toggle down so that your hand can't fall out.
