pclaydon
Saw Fosse the other night, lighting was great lots of movers which were very effective. At one point some of the twirlies came on with chairs that had two very bright lights in the seat, couldnt see where the batteries were, or what type of lamps they might have used. Just wondered if anyone knew what they used were they very slim line batteries? Would like to look at some similar effects for a musical.
Tomo
12v 50W Dichroics are pretty bright. If you have the cash, Cyclon cells are very small cylindrical SLAs that you can arrange around a prop in any way that fits. Expensive things though. If you want to do it on the cheap, small 12 or 6v SLAs of 50% more capacity than required for the turn will do, and those are available in 3/4" thick brick versions. Make absolutely certain they are fully charged before the turn and that they get switched off as soon as not required though, or else you end up with some lovely £15-£20 doorstops.
