Mr.Si
Hi all, I've just been wondering who's out there, besides the manufacturers, to fix mixing consoles and other audio bits, but mainly consoles.I've used one company before who shall remain nameless, but they advertise in the back of SOS magazine. I've had some bad experiences with them and I don't think they specialise in mixing desks... :) Who do you all use? For me, I need to get the headphones output working on my console (an old 24ch Soundcraft Spirit Live where all the channels have their own individual boards!). It's not the socket, as that's been replaced. It's thus probably deeper in the circuitry and my electronics are pants in terms of knowing where to look first. Thanks, Si ;)
boswell
Just sent our K2 back to soundcraft, reasonable hourly rates and they repair down to component level, at least it should get done properly !! :)
MarkPAman
I use Cimple Solutions for many things though I don't know if they do Soundcraft. For Soundcraft I have used, um, Soundcraft! :)
Bobbsy
Like two previous posters, I've always dealt with Soundcraft for any problems on their gear. Their rates are highly competitive with the independents I've used, their turnaround times have been excellent and (obviously) they know the gear. Don't you just hate "me too" posts like this one? Mr.Si
That's fine :) Thanks for your replies, it's always useful to have comments from others, especially if they're all saying the same thing! I was probably going to use them anyway, well, once I get my desk cased. ( soon I hope! )
Simonimus
We have the same desk here - one of the channel strips blew a while back. the annoying thing was that I couldn't just send the channel strip board back to be looked at, Soundcraft wanted the whole desk! which costs a bit more to courier than a single channel - nevermind, dont think we got it fixed in the end. Rob_Beech
at least it should get done properly !! Yes, I agree, although not with mi MH4. When it had a beer episode it failed, it came back working but with awful fader control (not crackling of course as its vca). So it went back again. It is now 100% with no extra charge but I would have liked it done first time as it did cost me money. Rob
paulears
It's far easier for them if they have the entire console because that way testing and repair can be carried out on the entire desk. Repairing boards needs either a correct model desk to stick it into, or a jig. Any desk out of production usually means manufacturers have trouble. MarkPAman
Some time back I took a desk up myself and was (by prior arrangement) shown round. So you could make a day out of it. :)

Plus there's always the possibility that the problem with the channel lies, not on the channel card itself, but on the motherboard connection/ribbon cable (depending on model). allgoodnamesaretaken
just to sound like a broken record but I couldn't recommend the Soundcraft service team highly enough - I've just bought one of their shiny new VI6's and its had a couple of small teething problems. They have been AMAZING in sorting everything out with that and from previous dealings with them I wouldn't go anywhere else!
