Rigging Tools

Apologies for infiltrating this board momentarily... I did a search and couldn't find an exact thread that answered my question...

As a theatre lx, I have accumulated various relevant tools to my job, but on my now regular forays to the Edinburgh Fringe, I find myself building truss and various temporary structures, which are not part of my usual work.

I bought a nylon truss hammer from Flints, but it wasn't very effective last year, and I also own a podger, which I rarely use the rest of the year.

Are there any other tools that will save me from embarrassing myself in my venue again? (In my defence, I'm a good lampie :) )

Any help would be gratefully received.

I really don't like those nylon hammers. This is the one you want for truss imo:

Thor no2 copper/hide mallet, available from any decent tool shop.

If you get involved with Kwikform, Lahyer or Cuplock scaffolding, this is generally the hammer of choice:

An Estwing roofing hammer (German pattern). Expensive though, and tricky to find, so not something you'd want to buy if you didn't really need one.
