Thanks Steve, but they appear to only take line level, so I'm back to the original problem of inputting a mic source! Cheers though.

I've got one of these its an excellent unit, it will take a line or mic input (I use a little Sony condenser) and will save to wma or mp3 I think. you can also tailor it for hi definition or low depending on how much sapce you want to fill, but I think it will record about 40 hours of voice, and its very good quality, even from the internal microphone).

They may make cheaper options with simular spec.
