DanielArkley
We are putting on a performance of Blood Brothers (dont ask me about rights, I dont know, I'm just helping out with the technical stuff!). Apparently, there is a part featuring a fairground or playground (cant remember which). Does anyone know of anyone I could get a track to play during this scene just to make some noise? I will find out tommorow exactly what the scene involves, but for now suggestions would be welcome. Ta!
robloxley
BBC Sound Effects CDs (professional or amateur series), Bits & Pieces sound FX CDs, Period Sound FX CD to name but a few places to start. You could even try a Google search.
peter
I think that the fairground sounds are created by the band in Blood Brothers, in which case you needn't worry... but best to be on the safe side. (it's only a short section of one bit of narrative)
Suzette
Haven't got a Blood Brothers script handy at the moment but I think you are talking about the playground scene - don't remember a fairground. In which case the cast make the noise of children playing and you need a sound effect of a big explosion near the end of the song in that scene. Hope that helps.... peter
Fairground song is during the transition from childhood to adulthood - the Summer Sequence. Not sure why you would need a loud bang though?
Angelic
I think if she was on about the playground scene, the loud bang could refer to the gun that they're all playing cowboys and Indians with (or cops and robbers or something!).
peter
Ah yes - I remember now :) The playground bit (I believe it actually happens out on the street, but it depends on the set) could use a soundtrack... as roboxley said, nearly all the series' of sound effects CD's would be a good place to start. Then again, you could always record your own... pop down to your local school at lunch time.
peter
Just to add that you will also definatly need a gunshot for later on in the show... as I'm sure you picked up on when you read through the script...
robloxley
A blank-firer is a much better sounding solution - especially since the whole plot revolves around the gunshots. Actually you need two for the end - and I seem to remember that for the original show, the SM had a spare in case one failed to go off!
peter
One for the cowboys and indians scene (doesnt need to be practical)One for the gunshot at the garage (practical)and two for the ending (practical) Also need a loud bang for the end of "kids game" - might be provided by precussion though...depending on direction. (guess whose been listening to the score)
DanielArkley
I think we have some cap guns to use, with caps - remember we are doing this at a school, and so we dont have flashy pyro or any of those luxuries!
