dosxuk
We have 4 brand new Mac250 Entours in two different rooms, run off two different desks (one avo azure 2004 and one avo pearl 2000), and all of them have the same 'fault' - the dimmers are anything but smooth. When trying to do any sort of smooth crossfade (manual or as part of a chase) the dimmers always step and jump around. We also have 2 Mac250 washes which do not have the same fault. Any ideas? peter
Are you running the fixtures in Enhanced (?Extended) mode, or normal mode? In the bigger of the two modes, the dimmer becomes 16-bit, something which (AFAIK) the Pearl doesn't support. By not supporting the 16-bit dimmer, the Pearl ends up snapping between values on the MSB channel of the dimmer, rather than fading the LSB channel in between changes. The smoothing algorythm in the Mac250 range seems a little bit borked in that if the LSB doesn't change, it doesn't expect the MSB to change and so is somewhat juddery. Try switching the fixtures into Normal mode and see if it cures the problem. I'm not sure if Martin have released a new software release for the fixtures, but it might be worth checking. MrDan
As mentioned in this and this thread, the MAC 250 Kryptons and MAC 250 Entour have a problem with the 'fine' channel. Drop the 'fine' channel from the template and it should work just fine. Or use them in normal-mode. Dan
dosxuk
We are using them in the least 16-bit mode of the two. Ill try removing the fine channel tomorrow and see if it improves it.
