Theatres In North Wales

Hi Guys!

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction!

I am currently at university in North Wales (I have just returned to start a PhD).. However technical theatre, has always been my life and so I am looking for any casual work opportunities (either low paid, or voluntary) to keep my interest active.

I have alot of experience within theatre mainly with lighting but also a little sound and being a PhD student I can be very flexible with times that I am avaliable.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for who to make contact with? I have been involved with a few shows at Theatre Gwynedd, but I am very keen to find further opportunities!

Thanks for your time!

Hello Chris - I have a feeling we've had this conversation many months ago  ... possibly on the ABTT forum?

You already know about Th.Gwynedd, so there's not much point me telling you who to contact there.

There's the North Wales Theatre in Llamdudno - 01492 879771 - the tech manager used to be a chap called John Owen, and the stage manager was Keith Guy, I don't know whether or not they're still there as it's some time since I've been there.

There's the Pavillion in Rhyl - don't know the phone number off-hand - and the technical manager there used to be Andy Hughes, but again I'm not sure if he's still there.

Then there's Clwyd Theatr Cymru - 01352 756331 - although this might be a bit far from Bangor for just the odd day of cassy work here and there. For casual work on the stage crew, you'd need to send a CV to Steve Williams, or for LX casual work you'd need to send it to Keith Hemming.

Travelling south, there's Theatr Ardudwy in Harlech, but they're really quiet so probably nothing of interest going on there. After that, nothing much until you get down to Aberystwyth Arts Centre, which again might be a bit too far for you. But if not, then their technical manager, Wyn Jones, has just joined this forum so perhaps he'll get in touch ... ;)

Good luck.
