  1. The issue is that the lamp's properties (nominal voltage and current) will affect the crossover's numbers. RS has two "options" 104-806  and  655-9047 which are both 6 ish volts and MES fitting. Until you get a part number or indicated V and A then you are guessing, and changing the speaker's sound or risking the driver. This is probably why low end disco speakers have piezo tweeters (til they blow!).

I did once get some 28v pea lamps from Anchor Mil surplus that did then have a branch in Nottingham cattle market area and one A38 ish Burton/Ripley.

  2. Push down blasting machine for sale. (think Wyle E Coyote!).

It works, it's been rebuilt during it's life, it's NOT museum grade. Located Docklands E6. Open to sensible offers. Ebay puts this on the line for payable ads.

  3. EVERY venue should have some kind of licence to operate as a place of entertainment. Those permits will have conditions amongst which will be the fire standards, among which will be standards for fire retardance for everything. If a council inspector calls (yes they do) that inspector can pull the licence to be a place of entertainment. I've seen it happen once in Leicester Square, the fire inspector turned up during the early evening and found things that didn't comply and shut the venue down. It took them 18 months to get the work done because the freeholder was a Church, the building was Listed and no-one wanted to work in a no vehicles, no parking location. A venue licence is issues after inspection and will be renewed almost for ever. BUT if the licence  is lost the building works must make the building up to the new standards, which will be EXPENSIVE.

  4. To do the job well you need really high supports that cannot be reached by any drunk/excited punter OR used as a prop or weapon by a fighter. This is best suited to a roof support rig IF there are rated points for your use.

  5. The venue licence will define the requirements for fire resistance not the proposed supplier of unknown drapery. Unless a materiel is non flammable like Brick or Concrete, then some regulations WILL apply. Every major town has had a fire incident in the entertainment sector and each has devised different regulations to minimise risk and hazard.

If major items especially drapes do not have certificates and labels then some venues could block the show on the night. If the show is touring then check with every local authority that you will pass through.

  6. I have three NJD IQ500 (575w discharge lamped disco waggly mirror lanterns with DMX) for sale. They've been in store for some years. Open to offers ££, to be called for in ULEZ East London.

  7. Chevin's prime advantage when new was light weight. Largely due to switch mode psu's. Having stock of the internal modules that were cutting edge in the 90s could be the difference between repair and failure 30 years later.

  8. Chevin Research probably still exists otherwise their www hosting would be expired by now. I've visited their site today (06/12/2023) their contact details are on the site,

    Address: Slovakia, Phone: +421 915 292356, http://www.chevin-research.com

United Kingdom Dealer/Distributor, Nottinghamshire, Music Gear Direct +44(0)1159383892

  9. Chevin-research.com are still searchable on the web. Those lists include dealers in various countries (Europe and more). The listed service agent for the UK is Music Gear Direct NG16 2UZ.  However that's from Bing search, I offer no guarantee that the information is current.

I used to use a Chevin A500 at that time it was the only amplifier that was a one hand carry with ease.

  10. Getting a floor to creak naturally and on cue could be a problem, getting an fx to play on cue should be no problem. Micro switches, alarm pressure pads, opto sensors and skilled people cone to mind, just have enough creak fx that they are just enough without being full house of horrors coffin creaks.

Getting a creaky floor to NOT creak could be a big problem.

  11. A plaited straw archery target would be 4 ish inches thick so that distance could hide a small mechanism such as a rubber band or a spring to move the arrow in to sight. Like most stage "magic" this all relies on credible mis-direction to encourage the audience to look at the scene not the trick. The target may need to be distressed so that it appears "well used" to conceal the works.

Co-ordinated visual and audible sfx will combine to add "reality".

  12. Being in business is actually wanting to check all the details before accepting the job. ALSO you must consider whether a supplier is worth a multi month payment period, and whether you want to afford it.

I do remember a set of terms (outside the ents industry) that said payment 30 days after order completion BUT they would add lines to the order for months, so basically the payment period for the first line on the order was probably six months - tended to be agencies who were paid on completion.

  13. Consider that the building may be safe, and the hired prop may be safe, but you can't expect the hirer to certify that your assembly will be safe.

If you and your company don't have the skills and people to do an installation and calculate it's safety then you need to hire the skills in or change something to minimise the risk and hazard
