Hello, My company has developed a software tool for subtitling/surtitling at film and theater festivals called EasySubtitler. It's simple, pretty intuitive and you don't have to "add" empty "slides" at points where dialogue isn't being spoken. You can also subtitle/surtitle a performance in several languages at the same time. We have been working with it for twenty years and it's been running in 15 countries.
