I still don't understand what putting the Speed slider in either 5 or 10 minute mode actually does. What does the 5 or 10 refer to ?

Despite using a Showtec Showmaster48 deck for our drama group for well over 10 years, I have only just noticed two lights on the deck which I haven't a clue what they are !! See attached photo - They are just below the STEP button are are labelled "5 Min" and "10 Min" The "5 Min" light is always on. Any ideas ??

I'm looking at some cob150w par cans. Some are RGB; others RGBW. I know that the RGBW ones contain separate LED bulbs for white. What I'd like to know is how that "white" compares to the "white" obtained from the RGB cans by selecting red/green/blue. Is it a warmer/colder white ? Does the light intensity differ ? Also, any recommendations for cob105W par cans - budget very limited!! Wide beam angle preferred to cover stage area approx 7 x 3 metres

Yes, they are for lighting. The cables from them run to the side of the stage and terminate in plugs. Some plugs are standard 13amp, and others are IEC which plug into QTX DMX dimmers packs for our profiles and fresnels.

I've now attached photos and measurements of our Community Hall. The central lighting bar in the main hall area can only be used for when we have our drama productions as at all other times the badminton club moan and groan about having lights and cables hanging down - the ceiling height is low. However, I could use the two side lighting bars as these are outside of the badminton court area and any lights mounted on these could light the stage from the front at an angle. Whilst I was thinking of lighting the stage area mainly from directly above, I think it would probably be beneficial to have the stage lit from the front as well, (using the side bars).??

The main part of the hall is where they play badminton and that ceiling height is a lot higher - although low enough to interfere with their playing if I was to hang any lights on my lighting bar in the main hall area. This is a pain because, as has been stated by other replies to this post, just lighting directly above the stage won't illuminate faces particulary well. Extra lighting from the front would be best. The raised stage area is completely separate and although I said it was 8 feet high, I stupidly guessed at this. Should have "done the job properly" and actually measured it !! Will do that next time I'm up there, but it's more likely to be about 12 foot high. However, I do have two ceiling lighting bars in the main hall area to the side just in front of the stage which could be used and wouldn't interfere with the badminton players. Any lights on those bars would lluminate the stage from the sides.

I was thinking of installing a small 6 channel mini DMX controller that is easy to operate - even for Grandad !! When I want to operate the lights for our Am Dram productions from my Stagemaster 48 channel deck I can simply swap the DMX cable connection over. There's no way I'd let some of our other hall users loose on our Stagemaster !!! I dread to think what the reaction would be if I was try to explain the workings of it to octagarians Ethel and Gladys from the WI

Aware of that. But can't hang any lights in main hall except during Drama productions - Badminton club moan like hell about lights and cables hanging down as the main hall ceiling is quite low. Something we can't do anything about sadly.

I need to light a stage area at our local community hall - not only for our amateur drama group but also for other hall users that want to use the stage area. Area is approx. 8 x 3 metres and I’m looking specifically at lighting it from directly above the stage floor, not from the main hall area. Height is approx 8 metres from floor to roof level where any lights are to be hung from. Would appreciate any tips/guidance/recommendations etc.. on suitable lights and number required to achieve a strong and even spread of light.
