There are some there which all though obvious to someone whos done this alot wouldnt be the first thought of an guys starting out which is perfect.
The fault finding one brought back memories of being shown various ways when I was a eager youth and reminded me how many I still use both in and out of the theatre.

The Hard hat is certainly a wise one.
I must admit I always worry I might annoy someone if asking questions of pro guys but its usually been worth it.

Hi Guys,
I have a simple question to pass the time. What are the best bits of advice for novice/ the not very experienced that you wish you'd known sooner?
I run a small blog on Amdram backstage to highlight the skills that go in behind the scenes and thought a post with this kind of thing would be a good mix up with look backs etc.

Hi ,
This may be a long shot but does anyone have a base station for a R120 riggers remote? I have a hand unit that came with a desk I bought but not the base station.
Hope everyone is staying well.

use a headphone jack with Multiplay mostly but that is in a smaller venue

Out of interest, what lights are you all using in schools and am-dram? Do you have a mix of all types of light or generally one kind?
I like most run a mix of the two as the tungsten gives the right tone on the skin and then add colour wash with the LED fixtures.

Thanks Edward. I always like it when companies still recognise their history.

Clicking on the link to the Zero 88 website I see there was an unpdated version of the Sirus desk (250-500). How long were they made for? As still use the Sirius 24/48 and Frogs at various places but not seen these other ones.

I didn't know about the different filament planes, so I've learnt a new fact today :)

I downloaded with a bill of 0 and not putting any card info in.
it doesnt like it if you copy and paste the code in (or didnt on mine) so I hand typed it and it went to 0

I am following with interest as a couple of groups I work with are looking. Most of my desks have been Zero 88 as they keep going and going (still have a siriurs 48 kicking about for one venue) but currently I have stuck with the Strand 520 as does generics and intel fixtures. Also they are appearing on Ebay for quite good prices (sub £150) every so often and might be a good stop gap.
I did hope to have a go on a Zero 88 course in Watford but it got understandably pulled

I saw a local company in Bedford put out a message saying if anyone wanted to come in during this "downtime" to sharpen up their skills on the various desks and products they had in their inventory to give them a call. Seemed a positive way at looking through the dark.

For the initial cost, 4 years is a good return. Thanks for following up on the thread to update the info as that is dedication.

I had to look a fair few of these items up Some great work horses still going.

We had a thread in lighting recently about restoring a lighting desk from earlier days and it got me thinking. Do people have a favourite/older bit of kit they still like to wheel out and use to get certain effects or just for fun? Mine would be the trusty Strand 520.

Not that long ago, a Cham Sys turned up in Cash Converters and a member of one of the FB groups took a photo of the serial number. Word got back to the owner who I recall managed to get the desk back.
Legalised fencing service those places.
I think I saw it as they also put it as a buy now on their ebay. Was a tempting price so the guy cant have sold it to them for much. around dunstable area

Thanks Guys, I shall have a look to see if I have the 500 series software somewhere
-
Sorry to drag up an old thread but did this ever work? I have found a 103 node and would be intrigued to see if it can be used with a Chamsys computer program.

We have a small patch in and out for our venue which normally has a short jumper as the link. this is removed to connect the desk into the run.
