  1. Just adding/agreeing to a lot of the above as someone who specialises in Amdram sound.

    1) I'd go no lower than trantec as the cheap systems don't tend to be strong enough to survive more than 2 showruns.

    2) second hand Senn stuff is certainly worth going with as you can get the spares and they tend to survive shows better. Also the mic connection locks! (so useful for amdram)

Im slowly buiilding up my Senn kit with G3s on CH38 and g2s on CH70 and these have survived multiple kids shows with pack swapping.

My current top out is 14-16 mics as the desk I use is 20 across so have DCA room aswell.

Me too. Although I love to embrace the latest technology and see how I can use it, I wholeheartedly agree!

It never ceases to amaze me how you can check, test, rehearse, test, rehease and check again - all works flawlessly. Take a break when litterally nothing changes or is touched, come back and it it doesn't work for the show when you REALLY need it to! Who says true AI doesn't exist? In our world it's a sadistic b*****d!

I had this happen on an Amdram charity fundraiser and got taken to task by the local papers reviewer for ruining the nights experience. Oh well, these things are sent to try us.

  3. As above, I do hope that Z88 keep their own remit and team. In the small scale/lower budget market there arent many things that come close to their desks. Of course if this means strand desks start to improve...
  4. I didn't know that. Wonder if its a way to get Zero 88 products into new markets using a widely known name? (I don't know how well known the Z88 brand is known over the pond)
  5. Jumping on this a little, any recommendations for someone who can service the original model of these? I have one which needs a bit of TLC after a battery issue.
  6. Paul,

Your explanation of the 3 scenes then A+B added has solved a mystery I've been trying to work out for a while. One venue I go into has an old manual desk which someone has helpfully cleaned number off. It has three banks of faders but two had an extra switch at the end which changed things on that pre-set. They also haver a digital system which if you cause but its not DMX but a strand protocol (luckily my 520 has a socket on the back for it).

Might be worth popping the lid up and checking all connectors are firmly home.

True, the processor has a habit of dislodging if moved too often.

Btw IRW I messaged you about a 520 matter, is the software still available :)
