Does anyone have/have knowledge of the Magic Q Maxi Wing and can answer: Is it really limited to 32 universes, or can it use the full 64 that the chamsys pc software can use with say the PC wing compact? (the promotional material for the maxi talks about 32 universes https://www.chamsys.at/downloads/PDFs/Datenblatt_Maxi_Wing.pdf) It's odd that it looks to just be a usb control interface much like the smaller pc wing (but with extra DMX outputs) but claims 32 universes rather than 64. As the pc will be outputting the artnet it seems to follow there should be no real limit to only 32 universes. I was looking at the pc wing, but its lacking a lot of the buttons the Maxi Wing has, so I would just end up making custom keyboard to have the keys anyway. (even though the maxi is discontinued hardware) But I don't want to get a second hand maxi and find out I only have half the universes I expected. Cheers Sol

Well cheap is a relative term, I'm not looking to go cheap enough to break fire safety regs. A bit of sag isn't too bad, the set is highly weathered to look beaten up. Will take a look at those. Ah cheers, will have a hunt.

Hey all, Looking to build some set that will include some false ceiling flats. Do people have recommendations for what fabric to use for this? Looking for a white ceiling, doesn't need to be a blackout fabric, but not too see through in normal light. Ideally looking for the lower cost options. Cheers sol

I'm going to be generalising here, I know this won't apply to all, but wondering where people usually fall. Noticed on a couple of last jobs that sent me to the USA, when building flats, rather than using 2by1 par for the frame of a flat, they use 18mm ply cut into strips of roughly the same size as a 2by1. I've not seen that as a common thing in the UK, am I missing this, or is it a bit of a cultural divide in how we make flats? Chatting with the chippy they said they use ply as it works out a bit cheaper than par 2by1 and a lot straightener. Not factoring the time it takes to rip an 8by4 into ~18 strips, it does seem to work out cheaper than some suppliers par 2by1 and already comes in nice predetermined lengths that are useful for building flats. Given my wood supplier seems to be sending me more banana wood than ever in random lengths so my wastage is high, is there any reason not to move to strips of ply? Cheers Sol
