  1. Hi All, Over the last few days I've had great problems logging onto the CPC web site. When I put in my Username & Password it essentially hangs indefinitely. I can browse their site no problem, just not logon. This is one one W10 PC, others seem fine/normal. I've contacted CPC by phone and online and in both cases they say there is not a problem at their end. My default browser is Chrome and I've cleared browser history, cookies and cache but it hasn't helped. I've also tried using Edge but have the same problems. Has anyone else had problems and can think of a remedy? Many thanks
  2. Many thanks, strip now ordered. As a punt I've ordered one of these too: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174621401576 I'm not expecting much, but I'll report back
  3. Hi All, Can anyone tell me the name of the silver coloured metal connector strip that joins cells together? Many thanks
  4. Just to report back: I raided our local Pound Shop and bought 5x £2 'power banks' and removed the cells and used them to replace the faulty ones. The fix seems to have worked - so far. The markings on the cells were: 18650 3.7V 2200mAh 8.14Wh SZNS HG40313EL 703255 The TO220 analogy is a good one and thanks for that. Interestingly the cells they were replacing were actually 22mm diameter x 65mm long so I guess they would be 22650? - which I really struggled to find anywhere. Thanks all.
  5. Many thanks Musht for the links. I was aware of the Fogstar one but not the database one which loks very useful. I wonder if Clive has any thoughts on this subject?
  6. It's gone through my mind to go to the £1 shop and pick up a bunch of they're emergency phone chargers and give them a try.
  7. Hi All, I am struggling to find a UK supplier of flat top 18650 battery cells for a ressonable price. I've looked on RS but the prices are expensive at £39.72 for 5 delivered. CPC are even more expensive. Any suggestions?
  8. I have a few of the B205D version and I think they sound great and are very useful bits of kit. So in the school environment, you've had no blown drivers or other fails?
  9. Price for an AVC2 is £650.00 + VAT and carriage. Thanks for the mobile boombox suggestion. I hadn’t thought of that route.
  10. I have a BSS DPR402 kicking around that would do the comp/limit job really well and I could provide it as part of the supplied package. With the XR12 I have arguably the same in in DSP form and additionally EQ, multiple inputs and aux outputs to a possible sub etc. The owner of the dance studio has a separate business next door and via some cat5 could have access to the mixer which could be an advantage.
  11. The Formula Sound AVC looks great but I suspect it will eat the entire budget (I've emailed FS for a price). As Tom has said, setting the max volume to the output of a phone headphone o/p and limiting the Ch input and output Is I think is the only way forward on this budget. The Behringer XR12 and power amp can be in a locked rack with the dance people only having access via a 3.5mm jack or a Bluetooth pairing. Dynamically it won't sound as pretty as the processing in the Formula Sound AVC but in this context it will do the job. I have several XR18's and from my experience they're rock solid from a reliability POV.
  12. Hi, I'm looking to put together an economic and simple dance studio system where the teacher can come along with their phone and plug in via a 3.5mm jack plug and maybe via Bluetooth. I'm thinking along the lines of a Behringer XR12 > power amp > speakers. The input channels would have hard limiting setup on the input channels. Is there a simple midi controller with a couple of rotary pots that could control the I/p channel volume levels? Or is there are there other solutions available? Any thoughts would be most welcome. Dan
  13. Hi Dave, Found it in the spam bin.... Many thanks
  14. Hi Dave, I never recieved the email and attachement. I've emailed Soundcraft support via their website and had no answer. I've also tried emailing Soundtechnology.co.uk and had no answer.
  15. Hi All, I am struggling to source these faders. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The faders are labeled: 10KΩ A 842B (mono channels) (x8 required) 10KΩ A 833B (Stereo/EFX/Output channels) (x6 required) Many thanks
  16. Hi All, I'm cleaning up a Soundcraft MFX 8-2 channel desk and could really do with replacing all the faders which are labled: 10KΩ A 833B (mono channels) 10KΩ A 833B (Stereo/EFX/Output channels) Is there a reasonably priced compatible fader out there? I also have an issue with one mono channel which has the signal present LED permantly lit. With a signal going through the channel it has no effect on the LED. The rest of the channel works correctly. I've been searching for a service manual for this desk and am drawing a blank so I'm using a SC EFX technical manual as a guide. Is there a significant difference internally between the EFX and MFX ranges? Many thanks
  17. Thanks chaps. No magic tricks then. Oh well. Side cutters to the rescue. Possibly a Dremel in some circumstances. Or the bin...
  18. Hi All, Often in active speakers, the amplifiers have glue/resin/gunk squirted seemingly randomly over the larger componants like caps. In the best scenario the gunk is soft and can be prised off. In the worst case the stuff is hard and solid. In the later case what strategies do you use to sofen or remove it? Many thanks.
  19. Hi All, I have a Behringer XR18 in an installation and could really do with a simple controller to mute all outputs. This is the only function I require and wondered if there was a simple design that I could make that had a single switch or button (+circuitry) Can anyone please point me at a suitable design. Many thanks.
  20. Hi All, As has been suggested I could always use a couple of 60W lamps. The thing about P38's is there physical robustness which is most suited to my workshop environment. I guess I'll have to do a last buy. What a stupid World we live in. Ban them from domestic markets if you want but from our proportionally insignificant World? Give me strength! So all the other PARs are going the same way I assume? I'm sure this subject has been done to death on TBR but somehow I've missed it.
  21. Hi All, I require a couple of PAR38's 120W (any beam shape) and usually get them from CPC but they only have LED versions. I need them as a current limiting device so the 120W aspect is crucial. Any thoughts?
  22. Hi all, Just to report back on this. The Silicondust HDHomeRun Connect Duo arrived from Amazon. The box is tiny and has sockets for power, TV antenna and RJ45. The self setup took about 20 minutes. Following that it was found by the Plex server and could be accessed by the various Plex clients. From within Plex a new page appears 'Live TV & PVR' and within the page a timetable of TV channels and programs is displayed. Click on an entry give you the option to watch now, or if it's in the future, record later. The resultant recordings are labeled .ts and can be viewed within Plex or VLC or other media players. I've been messing about doing simple edits of topping/tailing and hacking out adverts and transcoding using NCH's Video Pad editor with good results. The PVR box has two tuners so 2 programs can be viewed or recorded simultaneously. I was worried about the increased network traffic would lead to drop outs but thus far this hasn't happened or been apparent. The PVR cost £99.99 and the Plex pass membership was £32.00. Again, thanks for your help.
  23. I still await the IP recording device to arrive... I have to admit, the channel I most want to record is Talking Pictures (Freeview Ch 81) for the old British movies which, in many cases, are of good technical quality. Notwithstanding the story telling, the black & white composition of the shots and the lighting is often really good. Long shot lengths vs today's blink of an eye shot length The young film makers of today could learn a lot. To make myself sound even older I often get 3/4 though a modern film and can't find a reason to watch the final quarter. All effect and zero story. I'll get my coat..
