Do you think that silver label is also giving a second output rating - below 28V 3.5A there is a partial rating - V 0.5A

There looks to be a second pair of output wires just to the left of the ribbed heatsink, above the main terminal block.

I would say that a fan for the power supply.

If the OP would move the wires coving the silver label and post another photo would be good

  2. Looking at the silver label near the input show 28v DC out at 3.5a. there is only one output from the power supply which is the red and black wires.

You will also need to measure the original power supply and compare sizes as well.

here is some I got on the web but they may not fit

Other here may find other power supplies

  3. I would go though each colour one by one it sounds to me the green leds are not working. You can do this manualy on the light or via lighting desk.

The way I would do it I would have 2 lights set to the same DMX channel and make sure all led are off when all faders are down put up master dimmer to full if needed. Now put red up and if both lights go red then red is ok now do it to green and then blue and then white and you should see which have a failed colour.

In you  case it will be green, ((red and blue = magenta) + white = more of a pink)

So I bought a couple, arrived on Friday. Haven't done a full examination yet, but first impressions are quite positive - ie the casing was earthed, they lit up, they seem reasonably sturdy. Couldn't really assess brightness, as it was daylight. Haven't done a proper test yet, will do some more testing later this week.

No fans, so completely silent - the main body is effectively a big heatsink.

Did you buy the one you linked to or was the Uking one and how did you find the light out put. I am also thinking of getting some

  5. I have seen dance groups that say they will email their tracks on but never happens and then they land  with a new iphone or ipad that does not have headphone out any more that they just bough the that day or the day before. For some reason they think we should have the adaptor to connect it to the desk or have bluetooth connection for them.

I have also seen another case where the dance school sends a link to the tracks on spotify an hour before the land at the venue and tracks play ok for sound check but kept cutting out in the show and we get asked what where we doing. It was down to poor phone coverage and there is no wifi in the venue as its a small local hall

This might be it. They were using Windows Media Player (actually, just double-clicking on each file on the desktop, I assume it was WMP that opened by default, certainly looked like it). Didn't have the chance to try any other programs, I'll tell them to download something else and see if that helps in future.

I keep winamp on a usb stick for this very reason and there is/was a plugin for it to get it to play one track and then stop so you could build the play list and the use it which is great. I think I may have the plugin for it somewhere

  7. The OP did not say what program they where using to play the tracks.

I did have a small problem like this summer for a few shows but I put it down to the laptop also connected to the projector in which I did have the earth hum on the first night but quickly muting the channel got me out of the problem. I did have a DI box for the rest of the shows but. I did not connect it when setting up for the 2nd show just to see if it was the projector or not. I did have a hum when not playing tracks but like the OP no hum when playing. I did have the Y split for the headphone/mic with me and when I used that it was gone. I know windows media player was been used as it was not my laptop and I did disable the mic in sound properties in windows and all was fine without the Y lead. I think windows was ducting the hum when something was playing but would hum when not playing.

I know a standard 3.5mm jack (TRS) shorts out the mic in new laptops which now have one jack for both so maybe this has something to do with it. I did have to use the DI box because of the projector.

  8. I had bench tested the master station and its working fine and also went to the theater this morning and plugged back in the system and had the problem again but found what was causing it someone added a 2nd coms socket at the sound/lighting desk and there was done badly and we removed the new new socket and got it work also. I hope to redo it in a few weeks after a few shows and retest all again.

The GS-CMS2 circuit diagram would be great to have for again

    Thank you all who posted

  9. Hi Sunray,

I have been looking to see why it over heated and I have worked out a faulty cable from the master station to the wall may be the problem. I have bench tested this unit with out the resistors and it been on for over 12 hours with 6 packs on it more than ever been on it 5 of them are my own(blue coms packs) and 1 from the theater. From digging around on the inside there is no capacitor in parallel with the resistors.

I am sure the metro unit are also known under sharewood audio and grand sounds. I did find out somewhere on the net that the there is a unit without the speaker is also the same board.

  10. An update to why I am looking for the schematic for the above. A local theater has the above unit which had a fault on it which was sorted but when powered back up in the venue it let some smoke out and I have taking it a part again and this time it was 2 resistors that burnt out R160 on the board these are from negative of the power supply to earth of the case. I would be great full if any one has the service manual, schematic or could tell me the values of the resistors would be great

  11. Hi all,

I was asked by a friend to look at his loacl drama groups lighting desk which will not do anything when switch on apart from some LEDs light up on the desk along with LCD screen lights but nothing showing on it. Press any buttons and it will do nothing at all. I did Google to see if there is some way of resetting the desk.

Dose anyone have any experience with this desk.

  12. Ok I know this was post a while ago. I do where a hearing aid all the time.

There is  no need to mod the headset in to a loop the speaker is all ready a loop and if the hearing aid is put in T mode (for loop systems) it will work with speakers. I do this myself a lot. more so when I am videoing a show as I always plug headphones in to the camera to monitor the audio the camera getting. If I dont put the hearing aid in to loop mode it will feedback with head phones on.

I wonder how many people have purchased the wrong product over the years with such a small difference in model number?

Good one there Ray. I did not think of that.

Just to add it only when it change to Xenyx that there is a small difference in the model numbers. When it was eurorack it was MXB1002 ( battery powered) and UB1002 (like the one you like Ray)
