lee weathers
yes we all now the box standard way of unblocking smoke machines with distilled water, but are ther any more efficent ways like shoving some thin wire up its arse or something.. just trying to stop having my pants pulled down on the cost of heater bloc replacements!! weathers
Wuddy
I always add 50% vinegar to the distilled water and run it through after every tank of oil. My smoke machines came with a stiff piece of wire for clearing the jet.
KevinE
Im afraid we throw alot of smoke machines away these days with blocked capilliaries. The tubes especially on the cheaper chinese units are very very thin indeed and can get totally caked, post mortems have shown them to be completely solid all the way through! The better quality machines eg Jem have slightly larger tubes and respond well to cleaning regularly with iron descaler or distilled vinegar (watch the fumes / eyes!!). The cheaper ones simply arent worth the effort...just look on fleabay at the number of faulty ones for sale.
Jivemaster
Unless it's a valuable machine then the cost of the diagnosis time will excede the cost of a new machine. If it's of Chinese origin then the spares comein units of one called buy a new one. If it's yours to potter then separating the parts and flushing just the heater block/tube with a warm kettle de-scaler may help to recover something! Sadly the pumps do NOT like trying to push anything through clogged pipes so the pump may already be failing.
