TheBlah
most of the lights in the theatre aren't coming on. to the best of my knowledge they are patched correctly, plugged in, powered on and I'm pretty sure the bulbs are fine. However most of the lights are not coming on. What should I look to do as the most effective troubleshooting?
Andrew C
Gah... The list is almost endless... Start with:- Which lights are on (just one or two phases?)Is the desk on?Dimmers definitely on?Is DMX connected?
sandall
If it is indeed most of your lights, start by checking the mains switches / breakers feeding your dimmer racks. It sounds as if you have lost power (or, as Andrew suggests, 1 or more phases) to some of your dimmers. If it is not that, try to give a bit more information about your lighting system. Just Some Bloke
Things to check: Power coming into the building?Power getting to the distribution board?Power to the dimmers?Trips/fuses on the dimmers?Cabling to the lights patched correctly? Not trying to take too much power per circuit?Do the sockets have switches?Lamps (bulbs) in the lights working?Shutters out?DMX channels correctly assigned?DeMux box (if appropriate) switched on and set correctly?Lighting desk turned on?Faders up?Master output up?Blackout switch off?DMX cable in the correct output port? Hope that helps.
Jivemaster
Find a good lamp and plug it into lots of sockets, -see what works! take a bad lamp and do the same.
