Grobermatic
Hi, Probably a basic question but could anyone give me the lowdown on how to patch a Jem 24/7 hazer into an ETC Express 48/96 console so that it can be controlled via DMX. I tried searching on this forum but couldn't find it. I am fairly new to this desk and am still trying to convert from the trusty (?) Strand OS. I know that I need 2 control channelsThe hazer has been addressed: 80I have plugged the hazer into DMX 2 (513 - 1024) on the desk Do I have to create a personality for it? I have downloaded the software from ETC but haven't found it the most user friendly piece of software. Any help would be great Thanks Craig
Stu
Personally for a hazer I wouldn't bother having a profile on the Express for it, it makes it much more hassle than it's worth. To make it as easy as possible, I'd address the hazer as 1 and plug it into the 2nd DMX universe on the desk (which as you rightly say is 513-1024). Then go into the PATCH screen and type in 513 ENTER 200 (Or whatever channel you want the haze to be on) ENTER and then 514 ENTER 201 (Or whatever channel you want the fan on) ENTER. This will patch both the hazer and the fan to 2 seperate channels for control purposes. Now all you need to do is to set the levels you require both channels to - then either record them to a sub if your show is already plotted or my top tip, if your still plotting and don't want to add the levels of the Hazer into the show, is to go to the PARK screen and set channels 200 and 201 (or whatever you patched them too) to the levels you require (off the top of my head it's CHANNEL 200 AT x%). This then means the levels won't be recorded into the show, but will keep the levels outputting in the background while your working. You could leave the haze on the sub while plotting, and not add the levels in by using the UPDATE function to record (which ignores sub levels) cues etc, but it's always another chance to accidentally get it wrong! (Been there, done it, got the t-shirt - normally with house lights tho, whoops!). HTH, any more questions and feel free to ask.Cheers,Stu
