Robe Colourspot 575AT and Robe Scans 575XT

Hi!

My club wants to buy a new stuff. And here is my question for those who had opportunity to use those

- Robe Colourspot 575AT (we want to buy 8)

- Robe Scan 575XT (we want to buy 4)

Are they reliable and have you ever had any problems with them? How is their output comparing to other brands stuff and their movement/wheels speed?

The place is mid-size venue, and fixtures will be used on rock and hiphop concerts.

Thank you for your answers :P

You can't go wrong with the Robe 575 range. In terms of features, brightness and price, they are unbeatable in my opinion. OK we're main dealers for them also, so perhaps a little bias, but bias enough to buy Robe for our hire stock over any other make or model.

Drop me a line if you need any further help or advice.

Thanks Paul for your reply. Have you ever compared them with other heads like Mac 500 or even 550 (features, speed)? Maybe with clay paky alpha range (esp. brightness)? I know it might be other price range, but I'd like to know how robes are on the competition background.

noelsparks, thanks but I live in Poland, and we want to buy new fixtures :P

Yes, we have compared the MAC 500 with the Robe's side-by-side. The Robe's are brighter, due to a more up to date optics design ( don't forget the MAC500 was first produced many many years ago and has not really seem any major updates) The AT versions use the same software as the 1200 spots, which are frankly out of this world. Give me a Robe 1200AT rather than a MAC2000 anyday, amazing peice of lighting hardware.

Back to your questions: Interms of speed, pretty much the same for both units, better standard Gobos for the Robe's but thats a personal preference.

As Robe's are made not a million miles from Poland, I say support your neighbours, save a little bit of money, and enjoy better technical support if something should ever go wrong( which is rare)

Hi,

We use 10 of the Robe Scan 575xt's in an ice rink !! these are replaing some CP golden scan 3's which we managed to kill over a five year period. We have had them for just over a year and apart from a philips lamp exploding and taking out the lens and refelector not a single problem.

The scans are feature packed and have 16bit resoultion for the mirror so smooooth movements. Strobe is good and when used with Cyber control or Sunlite 2004 couldn't be easier to use. A bit of 3 in 1 oil on rotating gobo wheel and a clean every 6 months should see these babies lasting a fair while, we had them tropicalised for our harsh environment by ROBE UK.

Would definatley go with the ROBE, if your buying in bulk they'll probably do you a good deal for the units we paid under £1000 pounds per unit for ours. ;)

May not be the place for this if it isn't sorry im new to the foru, Just a quick note forgot to add on my last post we are also looking at the possibility of purchasing another 4 scan 575xt's if we can get a good price, if anybody knows a good (cheap ;) ) supplier other than AC lighting who have quoted us already.

thanks

;) :o :o

Use 3 in 1 and you may need to clean them more often than that ;)

Maybe Mr. Need can advise on internal lubrication (fnarr fnarr) ;)

Seriously though, I was taught that you don't lubricate or clean modern lanterns with anything not specifically recommended by the manufacturer. Just about the only time I've ever deviated from that was at 4am one morning, in a state of total despair, over some early VL7 colour mechs. Even then it was just with a few small drops of some high-tech synthetic oil, which was rated to work at up to 250°F.

Hello everyone again.

I am sorry I am posting on such an old post but it would be worse to create a new one till this one exists.

Some days ago I saw some live music show. I went behind the sound and light consoles, they where about 12meters away in front of the stage.

Behind them they where two moving heads. under the stand of them I saw a cotton box of a robe wash head 575. so I understood that the hads were all from robe (and yes I checked them after and they were robe).

Now after the show has finished the backlights turn on and they were programmed to "hit" some trees besides stage. One tree for each head, one left one right. the trees were about 20 meters away from the heads. I was AMAZED byt the brightness and the quallity of the gobo on the tree.

I said "Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear., its just 575w and look at it"

And here comes the question till I have read the above comments. Do they really worth for a big buy? I want 12 of them. Here in Greece they cost from 2.500 to 4000 euros each one of them (spot heads).

I hope I get an anser soon.

thanks :D

I have used Robes on several occasions, mostly touring the world with them.

The Robes are astonishingly bright compared with other units, and I would recommend them. They also have a nice set gobos.

Reliability, there have been a few niggles, mostly when they have got wet, but on the whole, we have gone a few tours without swapping any out, which is very positive.

PS. The only thing I haven't worked out yet, is if I like the 5-star Robe cases or not.

I can see their use, in single or double units. But on their own, these cases are getting to a GOOD 50KG, compared to perhaps a 25/30KG of s standard case.

What do other people think about the 5-star cases?
