CHScrew Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I'm new this forum and am not sure how this works so, Here I go. I am currently 16 and am in my junior year of high school. I'm the current head of the CHS stage and tech crew and have been so for 2 years. I mainly work backstage but also work with the lights, sound, anything else that goes on in the auditorium. I really like doing this and want to know what I need to do to prepare for the future. I live in the United States and was wondering if any of you could give me any information on places is the USA that I can get info from. Good colleges or Universitys to to look at, and so on. Any help would be great because right now I've got nothing. Thanks-Ray
Rob Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I'm afraid this is largely a UK based forum so you might not get much of an answer to your question. You'd be better off asking at the Light Network forum which is a bit more international.
Simon Lewis Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Ray, You can also try searching on the ProSoundWeb.com site, as this question gets asked many times there. Simon
Jram Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 From what I've ascertained over here (in NYS) there seems to be a HUGE amount of summer theatre that takes place. I'm at New York Stage and Film, which hires a basic staff each year, the takes in a number of interns (my role), then ALSO supports a handful of apprentices who pay to come here. It seems that many people work their way up the chain over a period of four or five years. Personally, I'm tempted to try and come back next year in the role of Assistant Technical Director - as much for the CV as for anything else. Not sure what opportunities there are in pennsylvania, but rooming with a guy from Couttstown who has travlled up here for the summer.
