paulears Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 There may not be too many people who could answer this, but I'd really appreciate any opinions. I have narrowd my choice of prompters dowwn to two. Autocue 12" flat display, pedestal mount and WincueLT softwareAutoscript 12" flat display, mount and hood, Win+ VGA software Pretty well identical, some small software differences. They are about the same price, once discounts taken into account. Both have really friendly staff, who have helped no end getting the kit correct. Now I'm stuck. Which one? Any help would be really handyPaul

Any help would be really handyPaul<{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you're intending to use freelance operators, then you may find that 'Autocue' operators are easier to find. However, we have had a few 'issues' with the Autocue software on networked machines ('fixed' by exiting other applications whilst running Wincue, but not really a satisfactory remedy).
paulears Posted July 26, 2005 Author Posted July 26, 2005 Hmm, thanks for that - They sent me a demo version that wouln't run at all on PC's with SP2 installed, and another, sent later didn't run either. The two machines I tried it on were on a network - co-incidence?paul
paulears Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 I did consider portaprompt, but they have the worst website of the manufacturers I considered at this level. I sus[pect the products are ok, but matching a photo (rather than the poor computer generated images) to a model number, and then to a price is very confusing. My best guess, based on the pdf price list is that price wise, they are very similar to autocue and autoscript. So I'm back to my original choice. thanks for the help, though.
broadcast_techie Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 ok, most of bbc news (inc what I work on up north) use autoscript. I've been using it as one of my many jobs for at least 2 years now.... only major problem was spilling a glass of water on the controller 30 secs to on air, luckly it was only a short promo opt, and the software has a built in controller....oh how we laughed!I presume ur loading in a static script? if using dynamiclly it's great fun!
paulears Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 Thanks for that - no problems with the script. cheers
