Capture 3.0 Error

I have searched google and BR for this, but to no avail. Me and my fried recently downloaded Capture 3.0 demo. Whenever I loaded a show or started a new one, one of the windows would appear and then the program would freeze. After some tweaking of my graphics card's settings I got it to run.

Now I have a Radeon 9600SE with catalyst drivers, and all I had to do was to disable Catalyst AI. My friend has a Hightech excaliber radeon 9550S, but the drivers don't have the AI option and we cant get the program to load.

I am only posting it here as it is lighting related and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows how to fix it. There must be people out there with ATi graphics cards running Capture. Thanks for any help in advance,

Geoff + Ant

There is a bug in the ATI graphics driver that is causing a problem in the latest demo version of Capture. This latest version of Capture software has had internal changes in both timing and graphics handling, which is what has triggered the bug in the ATI drivers. Previous software versions did not have this problem, as they used different methods.

The solution to your problem, according to ATI, is to download the graphics driver for the Radeon series from August 2004. This will resolve the difficulties that you are having.

Use the following link to download the driver directly; or follow the navigation instructions below to get to the driver packages and read the release notes.

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-w2k-8-042-...03a-016701c.exe

Go to http://www.ati.com

Click 'Drivers and Software' near the top of the screen.

Now navigate using the menu on the left under "ATI Customer Care":

Click 'Drivers and Software'

Click 'Windows XP'

Click 'RADEON'

Click 'Previous Drivers and Software'

Then on the main screen:

Click 'RADEON Previous Windows XP Drivers and Software versions prior to CATALYST 5.1 / Multimedia Center 9.03' (at the bottom)

Scroll down to Display Driver Version 'CATALYST 4.8' dated 08/16/04

There you will see the driver download and release notes.

Please let me know if you need any further information on this download, and also if you need any help with Capture. More information, including FAQs, is available at our website.

Thanks for all the help. It looks like I have the August drivers and he doesn't, but I was wondering of there was a way to do it without upgrading the drivers as he isn't very computer literate.

It's clear that there isn't, so I'll pass on the info.

Cheers!

P.S - Sorry for posting in the wrong area, I was getting confused as to where I was looking/posting.
