Jivemaster Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Has anyone seen one at an event? was it popular? did it take much power?
Tom Baldwin Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 There was one at an awards dinner I did recently - I think it was fairly popular, although I didn't get near it after the gig opened, due to being stuck behind the desk.Power wise, not much at all. The basic principle seemed to be a domestic microwave oven to melt the chocolate in the first place, and then a little bit of heat to keep it fluid.
Rob Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 They seem to be at pretty much every event I do. They're always popular - It's just got a little motor on a 13A plug, so nothing to greedy.
Calder Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Rob, how about the heating element that keeps the chocolate melted? The Original Chocolate fountain Company machines require 1no. twin 13amp supply, the second socket is used for the lighting in the display.
Jivemaster Posted July 25, 2005 Author Posted July 25, 2005 I did rather doubt the manufacturers email to ma saying their machine took 170KW -- thats a whole street!

I still haven't come across one with more than a 13a plug though, so cant be more power hungry than 13 amps.
paul the paranoid lampy Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 some companys, like the original, need a second plug for the lighting in the stand. trust me on this, as I have pluged a few in.

Remember however they will need a socket to plug their microwave into as well.
