Dead_Skunk Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 I have just been given 4 Martin 1220 RPR's and 12 218's. All need a good clean as they have been left for a couple of years, but in working order apart from some of the mirrors. Either smashed or have brown patches on them. I can get replacements from AC etc. but are there any other good cheaper alternatives out there.
Stu Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Try Ebay - sometimes spares come up on there. In fact I'm sure I saw some 1220 spares the other day, give it a go. If not you can always try e-mailing Iain at Usedlighting (.co.uk) as he might have some, or known of some. HTH and good luck.Stu
3guk Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Go down to your local people that cut glass and get them to do it. Just take the dimesions from one of the old mirrors or something !! Really cheap around £2 - £3 from what I remember !!
Jamtastic3 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Speaking of those mirrors, I just have to say how I absolutely HATE them! Its something to do with the small octagonal design which makes me loath the range of roboscans (eg 518, 812). Then again the units themselves are brilliant. ...thought I'd get that little annoyance off my chest.
Modge Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Whilest we're on the subject does no one think it's a design floor of the 812 that the yoke is perfectly shaped to smash the mirror if you accidently let it swing round the other side? just a moan whilst we're at it.
jimeee Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 One more thing while we're on the subject of mirrors and replacing them, has anyone got any advice on the best way of removing all the stuck on bits/residue of the sticky pads from the mirror mounts? I'm having a hell of a time trying to get a clean surface to mount the new mirrors onto!
3guk Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 If its sticky stuff usually WD40 or a bit of lighter fluid will get it off !! :)
