gnomatron Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 the funktion one stuff looks very shiny... their speaker manager is odd, though, it looks exactly like an XTA. I wonder if it's just a rebadged one? edit - never mind, it is an XTA, I'm just being stupid.
Bad_Rock Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Hehe it is an XTA indeed. Regarding to Marcos last post. You will find the CQ at least one step beyond the PS-15. I don't think it's a fair comparison but if you do it put in mind they cost 3 times less than the Meyers. To compare the Cq's with some Nexo units you should try the Aplpha series. Cheers.
MarcoPolo Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 Hello dear forum guests, As mentioned before, I rented 2 CQ-1 and also 2 PSW-2,Then I have put them beside my own NEXO set 4xPS10 and 2 LS500. First to my surprise the MEYER sound set was very LARGE to handle. Then the subbass was to my taste very "bloomy"I rather like the sound of the NEXO subbass. The CQ1 had a more bright sound in the higher frequenties. But regarding the voices the PS10 was sounding much more beautiful to me.Seems a 15 inch speaker can handle more power, but the beauty of a human voice is much more natural on a smaller speaker. My conclusion: I will keep my NEXO set and buy some more LS500 and also some extra PS10. I also will make a new TOPIC to find out if I gain sound quality by using the CAMCO amplifiers instead of my CROWN macrotech.
J Pearce Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 I have heard a small vocal rig based entirely on PS10s, don't know what amps though. The sound was very natural and clear, with good diction, controlled bass, a smooth mid range, and soft but distinct treble. I really liked the sound, and thought it was sounded much better than the full d&b rig in the main venue.
Mr.Si Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 I have heard a small vocal rig based entirely on PS10s, don't know what amps though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> At the music oriented seminars? Normally, Nexo PS series are driven by Crown Macrotech amps. I would hazard a guess as to that's what Wigwam would have used. :(
J Pearce Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 It was at the music seminars, also at the youth cafe.
Simon Lewis Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 It was at the music seminars, also at the youth cafe.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Which event ? ;-)

They share the same distributor also the vortex series have exactly the power needed to drive every Nexo speaker.
Simon Lewis Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Whereas I'm sure that leading providers would match the amps and boxes suitably, there's also a certain element of using what is appropriate in the situation. Hence, I've seen a major hire company drive good quality boxes with old HH V800s. It was OK for that specific job, and the customer wasn't complaining. Several posters are reporting from the New Wine (South) conference. At New Wine (North) Wigwam ran out of kit for seminar venues, and subbed in a load of Kling and Frietag boxes driven by Lab Gruppen amps (from VME). Wigwam did provide d&b for the main hall, run from a lovely old Langley Recall. Reporting restrictions (aka my wife saying "can't you just stop looking at PA kit for one week??) prevented yours truly from having a closer look....
