Dave@getfit Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Hoping someone can help me locate a timer that will swith on a 110v power source for 5-10 sec and then switch off, and repeat going on and off every 30 -40 sec, continuously through the day. What I really want to do is to turn on and turn off a "disco ball" every 30 seconds to signal time to change exercises in a circuit of exercise machines. If it can be programed for different durations, it would be just what I need. If anyone knows of such a switch or can create one, I would appricate the info. Thanks Dave
dbuckley Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Bit of a sledgehammer to crack a nut, but one of the tiny PLCs such as the Siemens Logo! Basic or the many similar controllers from other manufacturers would do it. The smallest model would be more than sufficient, and as it has relay outputs will switch your disco ball directly.
Freddie Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 A PIC or NE555 circuit hooked up to a relay via a darlington pair (Transistors) should be able to do it
J Pearce Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Use a 555 timer configured as an astable, using the RC formulas the mark/space could be set up to 30 secs. Take the output from the 555 timer to a transistor then to a relay. Not too hard to do. Could all go on a bit of veroboard if you can solder.
