hi,

in your opinion what is the biggest/best/most used lighting engineer company

ie A&E Crewing Solutions

I hope this hasnt been asked before I searched it but I didnt get a straight answer and every company says they are the best or most used

im confused!!!

It really depends on personal preference and what your after, some places have a great stock of generic lighting cheap for hire but hardly any movers or over priced movers etc. etc. However generally my favorites are Fineline in Bristol and White Light in London.

It depends on what you want to do most specialize in areas of the industry, TV, film, rock/pop, theatre etc.

 

As for getting work it is often about who you know but can just be that you are standing in the right place at the right time or standing next to someone when the phone rings and they need x people for y weeks starting tomorrow!

PRG and Bandit Lites would be good to get involved with if you can, although I can imagine that could be very difficult!

If you want a job, PRG is good to contact, either Birmingham< croydon or Greenford.

problem is they would only take you on in warehouse to help out. This is good because you can get to know the equipment but more importantly work hard and get your face and name in the right places!!

If you want to design, contact smaller companies or theatre groups. Edinburgh festival etc etc.
