Standalone hardware wav player

I'm looking for a 19 inch rackmount music file player.

My main requirements are:

1.wav file playback (and preferably MP3)

2. Balanced outputs on XLR

3. Simple, large  transport controls

(Just play, pause and stop really needed)

4. Preferably a remote control (wired or wireless) with the same simple transport controls.

Any thoughts?

I remember Tascam making a couple of units, but they are discontinued and we're quite expensive by today's standards... There are loads of good MP3 player boxes around, at very cheap prices, but in most cases they lack my first two requirements (ie wav format and balanced outs.

Something like this will do much more than you need and possibly is too expensive. Plenty of cheaper ones with phono out and alternative suppliers.

I usually specify the Denons for this use case.  My go-to is the DN-300Z but in your case the DN-F350 might be a better fit:
