Unique 2.1 overheating

Recommended Posts

I have recently found a broken Unique 2.1 hazer in my theatre. It needed a new air pump which I sourced from look solutions recommended replacement parts and (I think) successfully installed.

However, when I run the unit, haze comes out, the fluid pump works, the air pump functions, but the heat exchanger gets red hot and trips the thermal fuse. I checked the wires at their input to make sure they weren't touching and found no issues. What else might cause this problem?

Else...... The heater block / thermocouple is connected to earth. I seem to recall its' plate being mounted on little plastic  'top-hat' shaped insulator mounts which electrically isolates it from the mains earth. the screw touching as it passed through was enough to create a similar problem on mine.

if the heater has got red hot then the little insulators have probably melted and will need replacing! I saw one come in for repair once where someone had replaced the heater and left the insulators off. A replacement kit comes with new ones in the pack...and clear instructions where to put them....
