sverrir_d Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Hi, I have two Christie LX37 LCD projectors that I want to be able to change inputs on by triggering them. I was wondering, does anyone know if that's possible? There is a Control port on it but I think that's for a mouse or something, the user manual doesn't say very much about this.
Pete McCrea Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 There are two options-1)Use the 'R/C Jack' input with a jack to jack lead- this allows access to the features on the remote without requiring a line of sight. Great if the projectros are up a scaff tower or behind a screen.2)Use the 'Control' port with a correctly wired cable to a PC running a piece of software available from Chrisites service department. This allows control over various functions via a serial link. I believe source select is one of the functions. Now if you mean triggering as in building a cue into a lighting show, then I'd reckon that using some software, that may well have to be custom written, to send the correct control code on the right lines of the serial connection- Christie do give these somewhere on their website, but I cannay remamber where!
mac.calder Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 If you need a smooth transition, make sure the projector makes them... I know the ones at my uni (quite expensive, high brightness units) go to a few seconds (about 5) of 'black' with 'no sig' in small white font before they change over from PC to DVD player. Going back to PC is even slower. There is the 5 seconds of no sig, then a couple where it gets the image correctly displayed. Looks shoddy.
Pete McCrea Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 That is the only problem with using the source select option. If the OP is on about transfering between sources in different formats, then I suggest scanconverting or scaling to get the formats into a mixer/seamless switcher to achive clean transitions.
bruce Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 ... I know the ones at my uni (quite expensive, high brightness units) go to a few seconds (about 5) of 'black' with 'no sig' in small white font before they change over from PC to DVD player. This is not unusual - virtually all projectors will put up a "legend" when switching inputs, to let you know which input is selected. The switch-over will take several seconds while the unit adjusts to the input. There's not a lot you can do about the delay, but some units allow you to turn off the legend, so you don't get the "PC1"...."Adjusting".... thing. It'll be hidden deep in the menus. You can also usually change the "no input"/changeover colour - it's often blue, but changing this to black may be more useful.. Bruce.
