J Pearce Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 I am currently running sound for a show that involves 10 trantec S5000s. I am reliably informed that they are licensed, however I was not given a copy with the mics. I am under the impression I would need the paperwork on me if anyone asked. The mics belong to the council and are hired out to the school at a very heavily discounted rate. Does anyone know where I stand on this matter?
bruce Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Check out http://www.jfmg.co.uk/jfmgecom/ for all issues related to radio mic licensing in the UK.... Bruce.
J Pearce Posted July 6, 2005 Author Posted July 6, 2005 So according to thisAny licensee of shared radio mics may hire or loan equipment to their customers. Providing the licensee supplies the customer with a written permit, the customer may use the equipment under the licence issued to the hirer. JFMG provides such a permit to all licensees who have paid the appropriate fee. I should have a copy. And without would be liable to a £5000 fine or six month prison sentence. Time for some phone calls methinks!
themadhippy Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 those particular mikes are licenced,or at least were at the end 2003,from memory I think its steve bevan at unity house who looks after them
J Pearce Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 It is, he came to watch last night. What I was asking is do I have to have a copy on site with me and the mics?
djw1981 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Most hire companies I ahve used send a laminated sheet in the inside of the lid of the flight case with the licence details and contact details for teh licence holder. This is stuck very stroingly to the flightcase so it goes on every hire.
J Pearce Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Thats what I was expecting, but there is no documentation with the mics at all, however this is not standard hire stuff. This is hired from the council to the school so there is none of the usual hire documentation.
J Pearce Posted July 8, 2005 Author Posted July 8, 2005 Well shows over and I haven't been prosecuted, but in the future should I have a copy of the license with me?
Russ Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Well shows over and I haven't been prosecuted, but in the future should I have a copy of the license with me?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, you do need a copy with the radio mics for it to be kosher (assuming, obviously, that they're on a frequency that requires licensing).
J Pearce Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 They are on licensed UHF frequencies. I will ensure I have a copy of the license for the next show. Thanks to all who have helped.
