Solstace Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Hi I'm sorry in advance for such a blatant "appeal", which may have been better posted elsewhere in the forum (couldn't decide between General and Sound...) Basically, I'm in a bit of a fix, needing to find a half-decent amp, speakers, mixer (with cables) capable of reinforcing at least vocals, keyboards and acoustic guitar, to support a funk-band who are playing a wedding reception gig in a small venue (size can't be confirmed until I get there) to around 120 people: Here's what I'm looking for (and have found before, without the annoyance of the local music festival clearing everyone out on that day): 12 Channels of mic/DI mixingApprox 400-500W per side FOH amp and speakers - Active speakers along the lines of JBL Eon's or current Mackie equivalents could be an option. Subs not necessary - it's REALLY not that big a gig or venue.Possibly a selection of mic's/DI's, stands and cables to make the above work, though I may be able to borrow these from my own venue at a pushPick up on 15th July, use for 1 night (16th), return on 17th I have access to a Wharfedale mixeramp & Speaker setup, but I really, really don't trust it with anything more than band rehearsals Catches are: 1) Budget - after negotiating my fee, the remaining budget for this is £1502) While I could get different bits from different suppliers, with my other jobs and committments piling up I don't have the time before/after the gig to drive round 3, 4 or 5 different hire companies to do the collection/delivery myself. 1 or 2 I can manage.3) I can come to collect & return, but have a hatchback car - no van Before I end up hiring from 60-odd miles away, if you think you might be able to help, or know someone who can, please PM me with details. Cheers, Chris.
Solstace Posted July 6, 2005 Author Posted July 6, 2005 D'Oh! Feeling a little bit silly on one major count... I forgot to mention I'm in Bristol! I may be able to get to somewhere in or around London, but closer would be better as my quote was been accepted and terms fixed many moons ago on the assumption that I'd be able to pick stuff up in or around Bristol while I was passing various places.
Penny Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Check with the University of Bristol Union. We have sound kit which I think can be hired out for any university event, I have no idea what the policy on non university events is but it might be possible. It's the holidays so unlikely to be booked out.
Dan Gruner Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Chris, Drop me an e-mail or give me a call, details on my website www.loudevents.com as soon as you can. I should be able to help you out. :D Regards, Dan
Solstace Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 Wow - so many PM's, so little time! Thanks to all who got in touch. The good news is that it's now pretty much sorted! Cheers, Chris.
