Clive Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Hi, I'm new to this board. We have a boardroom set up with individual mikes for each person - 24 in all. They all come to the meetings clutching mobile phones and place these next to the mikes. The result is the usual GSM pulses every now and then. Apart from the obvious - "turn them off". Does anyone have any suggestion on how to combat the interference? Cheers
Brian Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 1. Track down if the interference is before the mixer or after. 2. Make sure you are using good qiality cable from the mics to the mixer. 3. Make sure all your audio feeds are balanced. 4. You may need to mod the mixer to incorporate RF filtering on each input. 5. Filtering on the mixer outputs may help. 6. Filtering the mains may help. 7. You might have to change your mics - generally condenser mics are less prone to pick-up. 8. Pray.
j_b Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 More microphone manufacturers are designing microphones specifically for conference type uses which are protected against interference from mobile phones etc, in exactly this situation. I daren't say too much more for fear of advertising ('cos I am currently designing said microphones for a particular manufacturer) but suffice to say, ask your favorite microphone manufacturer, and if they don't have anything...shop around! There are (or will be very very soon) some damn good ones available!!
