Jamtastic3 Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Hi all, just wondering what kindof moving light this is in the picture? The nightclub has about 8 of these new fixtures. http://www.ukcn.com/ukcn/gallery/large/77056.jpg No, I never took the pictureNo, I don't know who the guy isand no, I don't know why he is pole dancing. ....And no, this isn't my regular nightclub haunting (honest)
JonHirsh Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 They look like mini macs or some knock off of it http://sse.martin.com/product/product.asp?...=minimacprofile its obviously more beat up. but looks similar JH
Jamtastic3 Posted July 1, 2005 Author Posted July 1, 2005 I don't think it's a mini mac, the head seems to be too rounded and I don't think it's anything by Martin. But any more suggestions would be great!
timmath Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 If it's not a mini mac then it's an excedingly good copy Regards Tim
Bryson Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I don't think it's a mini mac, the head seems to be too rounded and I don't think it's anything by Martin. But any more suggestions would be great!<{POST_SNAPBACK}> You must be blind. Its a MiniMac without a doubt. http://homepage.mac.com/bryson430/.Public/minimacs.jpg Don't be deceived by the superficial difference in colour. It's the same luminaire.
sam.henderson Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Urrgh- MiniMac (spits!!), Yep I would agree- identical! Sam
JonHirsh Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Horay I called it pat on the back for me. (just kidding) yah I think it is one it just looks to have allot of wear on it like it was bought from a rentle stockisnt the mini mac one of the most usless fixtures you have everused? I would rather pay the extra 50 dollars in rental and get a mac 250 JH
SceneMaster Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Yes this is a mini mac the reason why it looks slightly different is firstly the top side of the head is point at the picture and secondly it is an older version of the mini mac, I know there weren’t more than one version but the outer case has changed slightly since they were first released so the photo will look more rounded. ;) Edit: I may be wrong on this as looking at some pics of when I used them they look big and rounded and these were newer lights, so I suspect is just looks nice and thin in the martin pic to attract people to their smallness when actually they are a little chunky and I wouldn’t say they are useless (directed at JonHirsh). It all depends on purpose, ok for theatre they are probably (well are) useless but for discos and restaurants (especially the Maestro version) ect they may be ideal. Just because they are fairly useless for live stage doesn’t mean they aren’t useful for other things what your saying is a bit like saying a parcan is useless for FOH long distance gobo projection but doesn’t mean they aren’t great lights for other purposes such as colour washing ect. :)
Jamtastic3 Posted July 2, 2005 Author Posted July 2, 2005 Thanks for that Scenemaster and everyone else - it was just the casing. I mean the casing looks the same but it was the 'chunkyness' of it and if you're right about the case slightly changing Scenemaster then that's what probably got me thinking it wasn't a minimac and probably an el-cheapo copy (which isn't always bad depending on what its use is for)
