broadcast_techie Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Hi, I'm just very quickly looking for a VERY expensive lighitng desk that basically will control generic lights, with a few memories and submaster... any ideas? Thanks, Kristan p.s. I can't explain why, but it needs to be as realistically expensive as possible.
zonino Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 how about the martin maxxyz? or an avo desk? pearls are about £7k strand 500?
broadcast_techie Posted June 22, 2005 Author Posted June 22, 2005 that's great, thanks, problem solved

I recommend a screen though it makes life so much easier. If you get stuck give them a ring they have allways been helpfull to me.
mac.calder Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Hi, I'm just very quickly looking for a VERY expensive lighitng desk that basically will control generic lights, with a few memories and submaster... any ideas? Thanks, Kristan p.s. I can't explain why, but it needs to be as realistically expensive as possible.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Re your p.s.... That is really weird - I mean I would rather use a desk specced for the job than buy one that is outragously expensive which does not meet spec. I suggest that you define your specifications more before you go looking for an 'expensive desk' - I mean most high end desks (actually, ALL high end desks) can be used to control generics. Hell, if you could afford it, get a Grand MA or a Jands Vista or something. It more than meets your specs, and contains room for expansion. But what you are asking for is hardly a demanding desk. It is the sort of desk that costs AU$1k in Australia - for a nice, easy to use, comfortable desk. So I have a solution to your problems. I will supply you with a cheap AU$1k desk for the price of a REALLY expensive ML console - it then meets your specs - expensive, and specced to purpose... Or you can buy the same console, then flush the rest down the toilet - Just remember that a desk is an interface - if you have money to spare, try and buy more equiptment rather than waste it on an expensive interface just so that you can say "This desk is worth <xxx>"
Andrew C Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Could we read the scenario as:- Bean Counter "No you can't have £xxxxx for a moving light desk, just replace your existing 'generic only' one." broadcast_techie "OK, I'd like £yyyyy for the generic desk" Bean Counter "Jeez, that's twice what a Frog 2 or a Pearl costs, can't you use one of them?" broadcast_techie "Ohhh, I suppose we could at a push (snigger...result)!"
ChrisD Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I see someone might have tried this technique before. Although, that does seem a very plauseable explaination. That goes in the old memory for next time I want some movers
broadcast_techie Posted June 24, 2005 Author Posted June 24, 2005 sorry for any confusion, I was tryin to find a couple of examples to use in a couple of quotes to try and put a spanner in the works. To expain anymore would be a contract issue, so I'm keepin quiet!!!! Basically andrew c has about the gist of it, altho I'm not remotly interested in buying anything Kris
peter Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Probably the most expensive generics only desk would be the Obsession2, which can have dual tracking backups and multiple control surfaces. Don't have a list price to hand, but Stage Electrics just say £99,999... doubt its quite that much though.
