Bryson Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Hello all, Me again. This time, my tiny lampie brain is looking for: A CD-based jukebox for public use (freeplay) that looks reasonably stylish in a brand new building (so no Wurlitzers!) That holds about 500 songs (so 50 CDS). Want to buy outright - don't want to get involved in licensing schemes or updates etc etc. Budget is reasonably negotiable. Any ideas. Google just isn't finding stuff that suits my needs. All the CD Jukeboxes look like they were designed in the 1970s, which is odd, considering CDs are 1980s tech.... Any ideas, y'all? Man, I hate sound...
chris999998 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Man, I hate sound...<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Gee thanks, Does it need to be CD based? Could you use some kind of MP3 device, a cheap pc or an ipod perhaps? HTH,Chris
MikeR Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Hmmmmmmm I don't believe he's looking for a set of bodger's plans. Have you seen these ones? May be too 70's for you
chris999998 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 I don't see what problem there is with the suggestion of this kind of system, if set up sensibly it could be scaleable for use with more or less CDs, perhaps even moving onto Video on Demand at a later date, I don't know what the OP wanted, which is why I asked. Nothing wrong with keeping an open mind... Chris
zonino Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 try contacting the people who do the hiring out to pubs etc, they may be able to point you in the right direction (after they realise you are not gonna rent it!)
Mush Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 The Wurlitzer look is usually based on the classic Wurlitzer 1015 jukebox shape from1946 rather than the 1970`s. Jukeboxes are made in `hideaway` format that has the changer mech in a remote box with a wall box with title cards mounted,er, on the wall. Also full wall mounting with internal mech.Noting recent events, with 8" chemical anchors ;-) Floor standing juke has its own big speaker cab, if its the only source of sound, probably not the application here. Beware of some older CD boxes with duff and hard to source parts in the mech, it may be cheap for a reason. Not sure who is still about, for new could start with Sound Leisure: http://www.sound-leisure.com
