lukew Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Basically my schools battle of the bands is aproaching and I want to put on an amazing show but don’t know where to start with rigging the lights --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Powered--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Unpowered--------------------------------------------------------------------------------powered-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Unpowered-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PoweredFront of stage--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Unpowered--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Powered--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Powered--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Unpowered We always try and not use the unpowered bars as this means extra leads that we have to hire. patesrichard Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Just my opinion, but use the par 56 and point them upwards against a spare wall, maybe to the left and right of the stage. It just stops the wall looking quite so bland (presuming it's a bog standard school brick wall) and means theres light all around the stage. It looked quite effective at the Yr11 prom that was on Friday at my school, as suggested by Ben (don't know his second name) Geoff
the kid Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Personaly thee 56's up on the drummer, strobe some where in the middle of a bar. Your projectors im confused are they like animation disc's or video? What do people think about a illusion and mover's, for ease of programming?
minimac Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 how long have you got to rig and programme? par's on the drummer always looks good! regarding the illusion, personally I would use a fatfrog for this kind of gig, but the spec of the illusion is very impressive Illusion I take it you are going to be using subs? to make programming easier, I would put the mac's mirrored. so two on one side are normal and the other two have there tilt reversed. this makes positioning a hole lot easier.
lukew Posted June 26, 2005 Author Posted June 26, 2005 The event is in November so I've got an hour a day up to that if you minus 6 weeks summer holiday and 2 weeks half term. The desk is not the illusion 500 but the illusion 240 link below: http://www.pro-music-news.com/html/studio/00915ze3.jpg
Guest lightnix Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Hello lukew, welcome to the Blue Room :) With all due respect, this subject has been discussed many, many times before. Using the SEARCH FUNCTION will help you find them. In the meantime, links to most of the relevant threads can be found in this post. Apart from that, read a few books / mags and have a look at pictures of concerts for inspiration. Good luck and don't forget to post some pics in the Show Your Show thread.
jagardner1984 Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 I would personally have a few hesitations about the Illusion for Movers, unless you want to plot a very small number of effects and use them time and again - I don't think it is the most user friendly of interfaces. That said, if Plot time isn't an issue, then it could be a really good way to push the desk a bit and make a bit of magic! It isn't on the list as far as I can see but I would definitely look at getting a Hazer in there, but maybe that isn't the look you are going for ??? James
lukew Posted June 26, 2005 Author Posted June 26, 2005 I've got till November to program with 6 weeks summer holiday and 2 weeks halfterm in between. With regards to a hazer the budget isn't there to get one instead we fill the hall with smoke
zonino Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 try sticking a fan with the smoke machine, makes it more like haze!
jamienip Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 I've got till November to program with 6 weeks summer holiday and 2 weeks halfterm in between. With regards to a hazer the budget isn't there to get one instead we fill the hall with smoke<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats a long time to have the movers kicking about... The rest shouldn't take too long to program.
topjob Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 the macs will only be there for a few days at the most before the event unfortunatly, due to the budget (well lack of).
