Bad_Rock Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Sorry for bringing the Nexos again but for now I have only an Mc2 e 25 Amp to Move 4 PS 15 to a 800 ppl venue. It will be for the first months while I get some money from this club.I wish your answer guys will be " yes you can use it safely for a few months". Thanks
Leecey Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 You can use it, but you'll be fairly underpowered. If you wire up two to each channel (4ohms/ch), you're pushing 1250W out of each; considering each speaker is only getting ~600W each and they can handle 1000W, it's hardly decent powering. They're loud boxes, but you won't be Motorhead-loud for 800 people. Another MC2 with the same speakers and you're in a whole different ball game ;)
Bad_Rock Posted June 23, 2005 Author Posted June 23, 2005 Ok but that is not exactly my worse nightmare. I had dreams were my amp was over powered and then died in the middle of the night. Do you think that can be possible due to the amp been a lot smaller than what is needed for those boxes ?
Leecey Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Well, you've got thermal protection on the amp, which eliminates the only way you're really likely to damage it. It's true that you'll have to run the amp pretty wide open to get decent levels...the amp will limit itself if it's clipping at least, won't sound pretty though. If you run the amp beyond what it thinks it's capable of for too long, it will most likely just switch off till it cools down. This is obviously never fun in the middle of a set... Generally, you can probably get away with running it hot, but I wouldn't push it. You can get away with it a few times without too much risk, but more than a few times a week and you'll risk something blowing inside it. And everyone knows letting the smoke out is bad ;)
