I'd rather not use SWA for site temporaries but as far as I'm concerned there is nothing else out there for such situations.

BS7909 specifies H07-RNF, not sure what's the specific situation that would require armoured, doesn't sound too flexible. Do you use the sheath as earth conductor or have an additional core and earth the sheath too?

whats wrong with cable trackway?yea it can be a ballache to put out,but much quicker than   a bloke and a shovel and about the same cost to hire as a tank of diesel for the mini digger, added bonus 's are your cable wont need jet washing after the out and when you forget that extra  cable no need to start digging again

The bit between the supply and the RCD distro.

We always include an earth core and earthed sheath (both ends)

This - on many festival sites cable runs have to go through public areas and so trackway isn’t an option.

One of the jobs we'd done for a number of years we watered a SWA and 1" poly water pipe into the grass for about 3m which was then 'matted' with coir, never a problem. The final time the event ran the organisers (Borough Council) employed an outside H&S company rather than 'in house' who insisted we used cable protector ramps.

All we could get at 'no notice' was very chunky, maybe 75mm high.

There were so many 'incidents' one of the first aiders was stationed there and we were forever lifting stuck disability scooters off.

Ironically there were more recorded injuries that year across the event than ever before (not trying to make any political points), including when a fairground ride collapsed.

To clarify the fairground ride collapse was several years previous.

We just started looking at this, even upping our capacity with a new bunded tank, there's hardly any price break to be had for white diesel. A few companies going to be caught out by this I suspect when planning their costs for the year.
