louis Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I been asked back at my college to help even more when I was the stage manager I wanted to know if any one had ever worked on the production of 'Joseph ' had would help me out the way with the set, props, lights, sounds in the show I would be much grateful
J Pearce Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Sorry but I'm having problems understanding you. Are you asking for advice or technicians to come and design/run your show?. If you are asking for technicians then state your location, dates, budget, pay etc... It might be against BR rules to advertise for technicians in this forum however (not sure) It should probably go in the classified. If you are asking for free technicians cross your fingers or get realistic, most would need at the least travel expenses and a hire budget. If I have misread you and you are asking for advice be more specific, but do not expect us to design your show. Many people on this forum will do that for you, but at a cost. Hope I have helped.
Stutwo Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 No offence Louis, but if you can't come up with any ideas at all in any of those areas you should probably step down. This is a great place for help with many many helpful souls, but asking for someone to do all your work for you is a bit optomistic.
sam.henderson Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Is there any chance you could rephrase what you are trying to say, I to don't understand what you are asking for?? Thanks, Sam
J Pearce Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I tried to interpret, but could be on the wrong end of what the OP is trying to say. Please rephrase it and be clearer on what you desire and I'm sure the wealth of knowledge held by the members of BR will be able to help.
Stu Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 We had the national tour of Jospeh in almost a year ago. If you have any lighting based questions I may be able to remember what they had/did (big maybe!). Stu
jamienip Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I wouldn't advise copying too much from the shows, as the LD's put a lot of work into them, and I'm sure wouldn't be too happy if you went and stole their hard grafted ideas.
mac.calder Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 Common sence + some creativity should = the basic idea. Joseph has a few major loctions: Wealthy land of Jacob and sonsOpulent house of Pontifer ?sp?The bedroom of aboves wifeA cellWith PharoeDecaying house of Jacob and sons So then expand upon it. Wealthy yet in an arid area, so bright, lots of golds Opulent house - props that are rather gold, yet I would light is with more blues Bedroom - romantic. A Cell - blues, dark, dingey. With Pharoe - again, opulent with blues and golds Decaying house - I would use reds myself. Really, just break down the scripts into areas (and times), and set up a basic state for each, then add or subtract things to make it 'work' All that applies to props and lights etc... sounds, most of it is actor supplied (and muso supplied), although you may want to add some atmos and the odd other thing. Got through the script - I have not done Joseph since I was part of the chorus at age 8 (It is almost a rite of passage being a member of the chorus in AU)
Genus Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I would have to say that I don't really understand what you are asking for. I have SM'ed Joseph a little while ago, I would say that set and props are fairly easy from a design and ideas perspective (the building and set movement - on the other hand require more thought). It's all very well me telling you how I did it, but it would be pointless. I have no idea of your budget, deadlines, storage space (Joseph can use a large amount of big set pieces) etc... The same applies for lighting. Almost all aspects of theatre design start off with a set of constraints to work with. If you don't tell us what they are, then how are we to offer ideas. BTW: The only thing I would ever offer are abstract ideas unless you want to pay me. Genus
