stage_jonty Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I am 16 and have a growing interest in all aspects of theatre life, especially Stage Management. I really want to develop my interest for theatre and gain some experience over summer if this is at all possible. I've posted a similar message on the stage online and had no luck! Does anyone know of ANYTHING I could do over summer in order to get some experience to add to my current knowledge of backstage work and esp. Stage Management????? :) Thanks In Advanced, MJT
smeggie Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 call in to local theatres and ask about their needing any ASMs or other crew for their summer school programmes. - I know its not pro work [or particularly close to it either] but it will get you known to the theatre, and chances are, you will be getting trained there as well. some places also pay a little wage for the time spent there good luckandy
ChrisD Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Fill in your profile information a bit and you might even get some people offering you work on the blue room :** laughs out loud **:
zonino Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 just got a response from somewhere in manchester I tried for the summer (begining of july to begining of october) but they said "we're dark in august so by the time you know your way around you'll be leaving" :** laughs out loud **:
J Pearce Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 All my local theatres shut down for maintenance over summer. This means no work experience, but they let me borrow gear to run my old high schools summer musical.
stage_jonty Posted June 21, 2005 Author Posted June 21, 2005 Cheers guys, this is great! :** laughs out loud **:
