AndyJ Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 I have just got the X-Connect Dongle and I'm using it with a 520i.Works great in monitor mode, and logging in as user 1. I can't figure out how to set it up as 2nd user though.... Any help appreciated. Thanks AJ
peter Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 When you select View, Console Login, the XConnect prompts you for...Console IP, User number, Number of monitors. When you first log in as a new user, the console is set to its default settings for that user - 1 monitor, Direct 1 Digit, etc. A quick jump into Setup (Ctrl+F9) will let you change these settings. Does that help?
AndyJ Posted June 19, 2005 Author Posted June 19, 2005 I don't get as far as being able to do anything as user 2.The window just remains ominously black... Is there perhaps something I have to set-up on the console first before trying to login as user 2 ? All I have done is switch networking on. AJ
Rob Halliday Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Hello: - is your console actually running the 'I' version of the console software - go to REPORT and see if it says version 2.8.05 (or whatever) or 2.8.5(I). The I-software supports multi-user operation, so if you don't have it you won't be able to connect as any user other than 1. Generally it is only older consoles or 300-series consoles that have non-I software, but it is possible to install it on any console so check even though your desk is a 520i. - if you're opening two screens, xConnect sometimes puts them right on top of each other. If the setup for user 2 is only for one monitor (which it may be by default) the second window - which will be the top window - will be blank. Try dragging it somewhere else on your screen to see whether there's another, active window underneath. You then need to go into the user setup screen using xConnect and set the number of monitors to 2. Hope this helps, Rob.
AndyJ Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 Thanks Rob, that was the fix. Reloaded the console with 2.8.6(I) and its all working asI would expect it too. It was my fault! I haven't used 500 series for a while and when updating thesoftware I didn't check for the (I) version, Thanks Again Andy
