henny Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I am currently sorting threw some old lighting kit for someone and have found 2 old CCT Colour Wheels. they are fed on 3pin XLR one in one out. they have one wheel on the unit that can select between 1 and 9 the position sensing is done by 3 reed switch with magnets on the back of the wheel. http://www.hennys.co.uk/wheel.jpg above is an image of the label on the unit, sorry about the quality ,cam phone. what I want to know is , what control protocol do/did they use and how to use this along with the pinouts. if not all I'm going to do is directly feed the mota (24V DC) vire a DPDT switch for direction,on/off control and mabe a pot for speed control. but it would be nice to have somesort of full control , even DMX , but I think that would be pushing it . thanks ian
James Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I remember using some CCT colour wheels I remember a dedicated CCT controller box for them though Sorry I can't help any more. James
Grahame Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Oooh...CCT colour wheels, now it's been a while since I saw any of them. Can't remember much about the control, but I think they were pretty basic analogue stuff. I loved the control boxes, which had a matrix of brightly-coloured buttons with round depressions in the centre and a little LED in the corner of each to show when selected. You could control about six wheels from one controller I think? The last place I saw these still in use was the Village Theatre in East Kilbride, where they had some on their FOH side booms. They may still be there; I haven't played it in quite some time now.
