Coldplays video - the speed of sound

I can confirm that it is around 750 Element Labs VersaTubes mounted on a saff frame supplied for the shoot by ElementLabs' distributer in Los Angeles. Coldplay's usual LD (Bryan Leitch) did not work on the job to my knowledge thus the difference in equipment from their usual live setup (Thomas Pixelline & RADlite media servers). The video was lit almost competely by the VersaTubes in order to maintain colour temperature. The diffuse front to the VersaTube is obviously better for television. The VersaTube equipment was used on X-Factor for the main bulk of the set with another type of tube from another manufacturer (pixeon) used elsewhere on the set.

Element Labs equipment is available in this country, CT have some as do the Element Labs UK distributers Projected Image Digital in London www.projectedimagedigital.com. They recommend that the system is driven from PixcelMAD software.

The video is fed into the media server system which is then mapped over the the LED clusters which act as giant pixels. The equipment was on show at PLASA last year, and no doubt will be again this year. For those in SE London/Kent, you can also visit the O2 shop in Bluewater and see them close up!

Would this be the future of lighting? I understand you have to plug the Versatubes in a control system & have an M-box or any equipment that feed images onto it. I read from a magazine that it can be controlled by a Jands hog. Would it be possible to control the versa Tubes from an Avolites Pearl 2004?

Just want to know your opinions on this. Thank you very much!
