ekul1978
Just wondering if anyone has used any of these clamps. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Equinox-TRC-100S-Aluminium-100Kg-Black-Trigger-Clamp/123495977547?epid=7025785775&hash=item1cc0ef124b:g:oegAAOSwqLRb8An8:rk:19:pf:0 I was thinking of using them on Robe 700's. I normally use the Doughty style ones but these are a fair bit cheaper do just wondered if anyone has a review or any experience.
Stuart91
I bought a handful of these when they first became available, in natural aluminium finish rather than black, but otherwise identical. We don't have any Doughty models on hand for a direct comparison, but have bought Global Truss trigger clamps in the past. They are roughly double the price, but you can see where the money goes. They're bigger, heavier duty, and just generally feel more refined. However, that's not to say that there isn't a place for the Equinox clamps. I'd be happy enough using them on a mover the size of the 700s, and I don't doubt that the weight rating is accurate. If your movers are being rigged and derigged regularly I'd be tempted to splash out on the nicer clamps, they're just more pleasant to use. I'll probably use the handful I bought on smaller fixtures, or lanterns where otherwise we'd be struggling to justify spending the money for a trigger clamp. ekul1978
Thanks for the reply - I may buy some as a test and see how they go and if im not happy with them do as you said and use them on lighter lanterns.
smalljoshua
We tend to use the Global Truss clamps instead. They're not quite as nice as the doughty but a lot cheaper. https://prolight.co.uk/product/self-locking-easy-clamp-black-5073-1b They're only about £1.50 +VAT more trade than the Equinox ones too. Both are distributed by the same company in the UK and like Stuart, I don't doubt that if it says good for 100kg then they'll have likely checked that is actually the case!
