Execute button configuration

As I get my head around how I want to control my lighting rig... I'm realizing that I want/need is the most configurable set of executors I can find.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to spread my executors across as many touch screens as I like. Currently I'm only working with 14 lights (two screens is plenty) but I want room to grow.

Is there an obvious choice for this approach? I've been using MagicQ and its decent but I feel like I can do better. I've backed off Titan because my understanding is that it only offers 20 executors (although this doesn't seem right).

I've really tried to research this on my own but I'm chasing my tail at this point. Thanks in advance for for any thoughts you have.

Touchscreen executors seem like a great idea until you want to use them AND look at the stage at the same time. For this reason, I feel that there is only so far anyone can get in search of the ultimate executor setup.

My experience while teaching improvers to busk shows is that this limitation often presents itself not long after they try to make a huge full functioning screen exec setup and then find themselves unable to use it in a real time situation.

+1. Use of touchscreens required very careful thought as to what is actually useful to have on them.

The Titan Mobile Wing gives you a way to add more faders and executors. The basic Titan Mobile can be a bit limiting if you want lots of hands-on control.

This is true if you want actual physical buttons, but he asked about touch screens, and on Titan you can have as many touch-screen executor buttons as you want.

However I agree with what the others say about operating live with "buttons" on touch screens.

With all due respect and awareness that I'm asking people who know way more than me about this stuff... Nobody has even answered my question.

Which control software is most executor friendly?

This means (to me) which offers most in terms of controlling grid layout, configuring button appearance, and using multiple screens (more than 2).

I am aware that most of you (so far) think this is a bad idea.

I see your point. I really do. I still may need to lean for myself.

Thnx.

For actual platform to use, I'm not sure much if anything has the all round edge over Cham Sys for creating screen executor setups although MA is very flexible and other pro desks have a decent degree of functionality.

The most visually "beautiful" screen executors I've have come across have been made by someone with strong graphic design skills and Photoshop.

Other interface design solutions have potential but are usually limited by what they can control on the desk via the chosen protocol.

Ok. This must be the trick. I saw a guy running lights at medium sized concert (small theatre) recently and he had the coolest executor layout I've ever seen. Three screens. Two upright. One table top. I thought he did a nice job with the show (over used reds but...).

I tried to ask him about his setup after the show but he was not willing to share info.

So... he must have designed those buttons himself. Or had some one do it for him. Because they were unlike anything I've seen or been able to find.

As it happens, I have very strong Photoshop skills. 10 years of graphic design. What lighting software lets you design your own executors?

MagicQ does and you're already familiar with that :)

A while back on the Cham Sys users FB group, a guy posted a nice set of buttons and fader images in both up and down formats that were based on pics of the desks own. Looked quite smart.

Ok. Thanks everyone. Looks like Cham is the way to go. Just need to dig a little deeper.

Clearly not familiar enough. :)

You could create your own interface and use Avolites WebAPI http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

Both QLC+ and LightFactory (lightfactory.net) give you the possibility to fully customize screen layouts with those items you want on your virtual control surface. On LF this is a non-included package license-wise to the standard LF, though.
