bthebassman Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Model ATW-1661 wireless TX. Model ATW-R160 wireless RX. Cannot get RX to see the TX (no RF received) despite checking batteries, PSU, antennae, ch. selection (TX and RX). Was working without problems. No discernable damage. RX display functional and TX lamp correctly lit(green). Is there a way to check TX out (864.125MHz) without getting oscilloscope or another RX? Is it time to get an update? Thanks for your help peeps.
bthebassman Posted November 6, 2018 Author Posted November 6, 2018 Do you know anyone with a scanner? Sorry Shez, no. I'm gonna hunt through my local contacts, see if I can test with other equipment. Thanks for coming back to me.
sandall Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Do you know anyone with a scanner? It won't help you at the moment, but a Software Defined Radio (SDR) USB dongle from about $10 & a bit of free software, as discussed here a couple of years ago, gives you a very useful spectrum analyser.

Agreed, I have both a cheapy RTL-SDR dongle, and a posher RSP2 unit, both are very handy when it comes to figuring out RF issues, including strangely programmed radios that I need to interface with!

Thanks guys. I'll look into that now. One of my old contacts has a working R160, so we'll see what happens later today. In the mean-time, I'll invest in the dongle - very useful info. :-)
