DMX Splitter Help

Hello,

This is hard to explain but I will give it a shot!

I am having issues with a DMX Splitter,

Basically we have 2 different sets of Dimmers. One controls the FOH Bars and one controls the On Stage bars.

I have control of the FOH Bars from the desk no problem but I can't seem to gain control of the Stage rig.

I have tried everything!

I have re-patched all dimmers 1:1 and all settings are exactly the same on the FOH dimmer as the stage one however I can't control the stage lights. I can turn them on manually (Setting the channel levels from the dimmer itself) but I can't use the desk.

I have an image of the splitter we have to control the on stage lights but I can't attach it here

Thanks

What happened when you tried swapping the outputs of the splitter over? Did the problem stay on stage or move to Foh?

Another thing to try if possible - cable direct from the desk to each set of dimmers in turn, if possible using a single, known good cable. Then take the splitter out of each leg and just connect the cable from the splitter's input to each output cable in turn. Try to eliminate one item at a time until you locate the problem.

Also, it might be useful to know the type of each dimmer, the addresses you have them set to, and the type of control desk.

You can't post images directly to the forum - try uploading it somewhere like imgur.com and then post the link here.

I presume we're talking about an active splitter, and not just a Y-split in the cable?

Have you personally ever used the system and it work correctly? If so what has changed?

Have you personally checked the splitter? Is it there? Is it on (mains switch, indicator light...)?

Is there a terminator plug in each DMX line? Specification says there should be, sometimes lines work unterminated.

Have you personally checked that all the right plugs are in all the right sockets?

If both the DMX lines are plugged into the splitter, simply change them round! The attached fittings should perform correctly, but does the functioning group change?

Is the splitter plugged in and switched on? The splitter may have lost power and only be outputting from a direct through connection.
